Because as well known sailing makes
only fun if it is windy!
So it's an ideal addition for a beautiful
stay on pico. On a sailingtrip with the
"Simile", a proud Catamaran, you will
see the world of the azorean islands
completely different but also in a way
shaped from a life in the middle of the
Atlantic ocean.
She looks slick. She is fast and surprisingly roomy.
Her name is „Simile“ , a catamaran (cat) with a length
of 16 m and a beam of 8,5 m. She carries a genoa, a
staysail and a mainsail. In favorable wind conditions
»Simile« sails at up to 18 knots. The deck offers easy
space for 12 people.
Down below, there is comfortable accommodation for
6 guests with 3 double cabins, a good sized galley, a
saloon with dining area and a large dining table with
ample seating for all, as well as heads (w.c.) and wash-
basins.
The Crew
The first mate is the captain’s right-hand man. The 2nd
mate is in charge of the comfort of the guests. Tom and
Zora, the captain’s two dogs, are responsible for the
security of the boat – a colourful family!
What to expect
For people, that spend a vacation on Fajal or Pico, we
offer the opportunity for half-day or full-day sailing-trips.
Even for novices a first sailing experience on a cat is a
pleasure, no matter, how the wind blows. The captain
and the first mate handle „Simile“ and the second mate
looks after the comfort of the guests. An introduction
about the safety and behaviour on board is given before
every trip as part of the procedure. Sailing along the
beautiful coast, makes you curious about the history and
the people of these islands and there are a lot of stories
to tell. With a fine wind a wave-picnic is a nice possibility.
We offer nonalcoholic drinks for free, alcoholic drinks
can be purchased, but depending on the weather and
safety they can be limited.
The Experience
The adventure is about leaving port together, to set sail
and become one with the wind and the waves. For a
few hours everybody belongs to the small world of the
»Simile«. The wind will decide the destinations, and
they all have something unique to offer. Especially along
the south coast of Pico or Fajal its worth stopping in
one of the sheltered bays. There is the possibility to go
swimming or enjoy a snorkel tour (snorcel gear is
available on board). Of course there will always be a
fishing line trawling behind the boat and when the catch
is really good, there’s likely to be a barbecue in the
evening.

The »Simile« is not licenced, to
observe whales and dolphins.
It can happen, that dolphins come
to the boat. Even if we find an area,
in which whales show up, then we
continue sailing and do not observe
them.
Please book your Trip in advance:

on board.
